Ode to Resort Days

I was sitting in a rocking chair looking at the water at Coronado Springs, listening to the crickets and people watching, when it hit me: I hadn't checked a wait time hours.
This was a thee day, two night solo mom trip. I joined a few friends who flew in from out of state. We had one park day planned together, and one Disney Springs day. But I had a whole evening and morning to myself. My first instinct was to fill it. Friends flew in for this. Shouldn't we be doing something?
Instead, I just explored the resort. I love exploring new places. Don't you?

Many folks think of resort days purely as recovery days - a chance to sleep in, maybe hit the pool, and generally recharge after a few intense park days. And yeah, having a day where you're not pushing 18k steps is a good thing.
But I've come to see these days as something much more: discovery days. They're your opportunity to uncover the hidden gems and unique experiences that each resort offers, the kind of stuff you'd completely miss if you were always rushing off to the parks.
Think about it. Each resort is its own little world, packed with things to do, snacks and food, and often some seriously stunning architecture and theming. You're paying good money to stay there, so why not explore it?

At Coronado, I stayed in the Gran Destino Tower, which I loved for so many reasons. It's gorgeous. It's named after the Salvador Dalí short film "Destino," which I didn't know until I looked it up later and felt embarrassingly delighted about. And how about that lake view from the room?

So many lovely details, everywhere you look!
Usually, our family stays off site because we like space and a full kitchen. But this was an absolute indulgence of a resort getaway!
